Episode #3 - Fitness work with Lenny (& a bit of a chat)

Production Date: 29th December 2007

Due to the Equine Influenza foot print, we have not been able to travel much or move around to talk to many people. So I thought we would just post a video for this episode on some fitness work we do with our horses.  This video is more a hack out than fitness work really, but it gives you an idea of where we work our horses, and some other dribble that may or may not be of interest to you.

Enjoy?

2008 Beijing Olympic Games - Schedule

With the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games almost upon us, we thought it was time to take a look at the equestrian events schedule. All indications are that the venue for the equestrian competitions are second to none anywhere in the world, and the Hong Kong Jockey Club is determined to make it the best ever.

Short Listed Australian Eventer Megan Jones competed at the test event earlier in the year, and she commented that they were the best facilities she had seen any where in the world, including the air conditioned stables and exercise areas.

Olympia Christmas Horse Show 2007 - A Video Diary

The Olympia Christmas Horse Show in the UK each year has been one of greatest spectales of equestrianism for many, many years. From Cossack Horseman, Shetland Pony Steeplechases, and Brilliant Showjumping, Olympia has it all.

Here is a video compilation of the 2007 Olympia Horse Show.

Tim Stockdale wins Olympia Speed Grand Prix - 2005

While we were busy trying to find the footage of this year’s great Olympia event, we discovered this clip of Tim Stockdale riding Fresh Direct Glenwood Springs in the 2005 Olympia Speed Grand Prix.

A fantastic effort by this game 17 year-old horse!

Please be aware this commercial may not be suitable for viewers under the age of 15.  I personall think it would be given an MA rating.  Enough said.

Lucinda Greens Equestrian Challenge - Footage

The Lucinda Green endorsed equestrian game has been out for a while and I only recently saw footage of it.  Looks pretty cool to me, and it’s obvious that plenty of equestrian people have been involved, just from the movements and shape of horses and riders.

Below are a couple videos of footage:

Ludger Shines at Geneva FEI World Cup Showjumping - 9th December 2007

Ludger Beerbaum winning at Geneva on All Inclusive NRW

How good is this guy.? He seems to just keep getting better and I’m sure many of the worlds top riders will be a little nervous to say the least now that Ludger may have a horse capable of matching the feats of Ratina Z and Classic Touch.

Yesterday he took out the Geneva round of the World Cup on his new ride All Inclusive NRW from his sister in law Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum, and another super start lady rider of the moment Jessica Keurten.

“I’ve had him in my stable for two and half years. He came from a local rider who bred and rode him himself. He was a bit too sharp and he asked me to try him and since then he has been with us. I have been riding him for a year, before that Hendrick, one of the boys in my stable, rode him and his first big class was in Wiesbaden where he won and was second and then he was fourth in Maastricht and Sao Paolo and sixth in Stuttgart before winning today. He is only eight years old so now I will give him a break, I will not go to Zurich with him, he needs a rest and then I will look to bring him out for the outdoor season with a hope of taking him to the Olympics” Ludger explained.

Watch out Beijing.

Ludger Beerbaum at CSI Geneva 8th December 2007

Everybody is talking about Ludger. “He’s back” they proclaim. I can here the other competitors shaking in their boots when Ludger comments that maybe he has a “good” Olympic horse.

Jan Brink wins FEI World Cup Dressage Stockholm November 29 – December 2

Oh what a feeling.  For the second week in a row, Jan Brink won a car, when he took out first place at the World Cup Dressage round in Stockholm on the weekend.

“I am the more happy as Briar felt so steady and nice all the way for two weeks in a row.” Jan commented after the win.

You can bet the discipline of dressage is on the way up when you can win a car.  Great for the sport.

Boyd Excell Excels at FEI World Cup Driving: Stockholm (Swe) 1-2 December 2007

How good is Boyd Excell.  He is fast becoming an Australian Equestrian superstar.  He won the 3rd leg of the World Cup Driving Championships at the Globen Arena, Stockholm on the weekend in front of 10,000 eager spectators.  Dutch driver Koos de Ronde, who drove his first World Cup competition of this season, came second, ahead of Jozsef Dobrovitz from Hungary.

“The course in Stockholm was one of the best courses I have seen. Course designer Dan Henriksson built a course which tested the skills of the drivers without difficult angles so it was very good for the crowd to watch.” commented Boyd.

However, the event almost turned into a disaster for Boyd and his entourage when thieves broke into his horse lorry and stole passports for both horses and his family, and also damaged his truck.

Lets continue to get behind Boyd and hope he can continue his success, and who knows, we may have a new World Cup Champion in our midst.
